RE: $8000 TV???

2oldman, "What is the attraction in a rear projection TV?" When I bought mine in 2002, 57" in LCD was nonexistent and plasma was 3 times the price. It's a really good picture and I don't have a clue about the "bulb" as I have had no problems with it.

RE: Hunting Island State Park SC

I agree with fourcamping except I like it "in the back". More peaceful and private. The pictures he posted give a very good picture of the upfront campsites. Horsedoc, If you bike down the beach at low tide, between the campground beach and the public beach, you will find the beachfront that you remember from before the work on the beach. I think the beach is better without the stumps you couldn't see at high tide. One more week!!!

RE: Smith Mountain Lake State Park, VA

Maybe sounds a little strange but our hobby is driving down back roads, looking at the old homes, (mansions or hovel hole, doesn't matter). Having a destination gives us a general direction to head towards, sometimes we don't get there but that's alright too. We always find something that we otherwise wouldn't think of visiting. I sure we will find something in these towns that we are not planning on seeing or finding. I love to visit the Virginia countryside although there is great scenery is any state. Thanks for all info.

RE: GFCI Problems

I think starting with the outside one is a good idea. They are more prone to corrode or stick because of the exposure. I had a problem with a GFCI. Turns out a prong was bad, I think some kind of spring in it. Tested with a voltmeter and would run from o to 120v depending(I guess) on how much the spring would "spring".

RE: Bubbles in walls

I had a new '99 Trail-Lite that was totaled by the insurance company in 2002 due to water damage. I never saw water anywheres in the trailer but I did see what I called "pimples" hanging from the ceiling and some "sandy" places on the wall. Dealer said no worry just some outgassing. I would look it over carefully and have a trusted dealer also take a good look. I hope I'm wrong but sounds like water to me.

RE: Smith Mountain Lake State Park, VA

rjf7g, We will be there for 5 to 7 days in Oct. Besides shade and DTV satellite accessibility, we are also wondering about driving times. It looks to be maybe a 90 min rideto Martinville and Danville. How far to Appommatox? How about Lynchburg? Is it a rural area around there? Thanks for any answers. myway2rv, I think you've given me a good idea what the park is like. I just really do not like private campgrounds. As long as I have water and electric, I am fine although I have done with the water a few times. $10 a night for 2 pets seems high. Over 5 nights, one could get a couple more nights of camping.

RE: hunting island sp

Agree with Merrykalia. Those in the front are all open to the rest of the sites there but with shade. I personally like the "back" sites better. A lot more privacy and not as busy, but I would be happy just to be at the park like I will be on the 4th of July.

RE: Purchace price haggling?

Earl E has a good point: IF this is the trailer you want and the dealer where you would like to buy, I would not let a $1000 stand in the way. Sometimes we let "winning and losing" get in the way of things we want. Once you drive it off the lot, you will forget about the $1000. And 5 years down the, IF this the trailer for you, you will think of it as the best deal you've ever made. Be happy that there are other dealers in the area. After trying another dealer you will find if the first was a fair offer. Keep in mind that the dealer is not fair or unfair in his offers. He has the right to decide what he wants to let it go for and you have the right to offer what you think is fair.

RE: Cove Lake State PArk TN

Stayed there for 4 nights about a year ago. I really liked this park. I think it is a no reservation park. Some sites are under some trees and some are in an outside circle in a field. That doesn't sound good but actually works out pretty well. A few sites are even along the lake. There are good bicycle trails, walking trails, and a large pool. For a nights stay or a long visit this park will work. Couldn't tell you about the bath houses because I didn't use them. I think all sites were electric and water.

RE: Water leak repair

Ordered from Seattle, expensive but otherwise I have have to take off the aluminum siding, which isn't going to happen. I don't know where else you can find it, possibly marine store. There is another product called Git Rot but the CPES works good and was shipped here in 3 or 4 days.

RE: Water leak repair

I used a brush to cover some of the wood. It seemed like it would be easier than a sprayer, just toss away instead of cleaning but either will work. I kept brushing on until it did not soak in anymore. Where the rot was deeper in the wood, I drilled small holes and used a turkey baster from wally world for injection. Works pretty good. The grey putty that you are talking about I think is butyl tape or "monkey poop" which is what I use. I think what happens is as the walls flex, the "poop", which never hardens, will squeeze out. The water from the rain gutter hits one of these spots and ran down the 2x2s. Great design! One thing about all this is that you will keep a better overall watch on your camper for leaks.

RE: Water leak repair

I have been using the CPES. It helps to kill the fungus that causes the rot and and hardens the wood. Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer. Of course if you can get out all the rotten wooden, that would be the best thing. I can't and most of it I don't need to. Read the material a couple of times and understand exactly what wood rot is and the whole business of wood rot becomes clearer. Good luck on your repair!

RE: Water leak repair

Be happy you caught it in time. I would suggest going to rotdoctor.com before sealing it up. I got the same problems on trailer only bigger.

RE: ROOF DECKING POPPING UP FROM SIDEWALL

The roof has just been replaced with polycarbonate panels. The old roof was held by SCREWS with neoprene washers, just the way the new roof has been installed. If I was sure the wood has just popped up, I think your way would work fine. If it is water damage(been there, done that), it will be a much worse expense down the road. If screws are going to be put through the roof, I would take a small drill bit and drill into a couple of spots where I was going to put the screws to find out if it is wet or dry. One can tell by looking at the wood coming off the bit. Let's send out the good vibrations that the wood has just popped up!!

RE: ROOF DECKING POPPING UP FROM SIDEWALL

I had a Trail Lite trailer that the insurance company totaled due to water damage. One year after buying it, I saw where a piece of the roof was popped up near the side wall. Went back to dealer and his remark was "I wouldn't worry about it". Of course he wouldn't, it wasn't HIS trailer. Within three years the trailer was totaled. I have a pool house that has a fiberglass roof with what I guess are "fender washers." Screws with a neoprene washer. I am always chasing leaks on this roof. I would cut the roof, screw down the wood, and use the Eternabond. While you are doing this, you could check and make sure the roof is loose and not water damage, because if it is water damage, you could have a real mess down the road. But I've been wrong before.
